November 8, 2008
Friends, Thank you for all the patience, gifts, and help.
Karen and I had a baby boy, William Glenn Shafer, on October 7, 2008. We have enjoyed quite a bit of time at home in the last month, and I am just now trying to get back to work in a capacity that resembles full-time.
If you need computer help, I am currently available. Please give me a call and do leave a message if I don't answer. I will get back to you as soon as I can.

I operate by appointment. Give me a call and we'll meet up at my store or at your place. My store is located below Borders in the Cannery Mall.
Most of my site is getting really out of date. Go ahead and read it for fun but don't rely on the advice. Give me a call and we can discuss what's current.
My new computer recommendations:
*Desktop computers built by Rix Computer Magic. I currently use Asus or Intel motherboards with Intel chipsets; Intel Dual- or Quad- core CPUs; PC Power and Cooling power supplies; Crucial memory; and F-Secure Internet Security. I use the best parts I can find. I do not use Celeron processors. I like Asus flat-panel monitors. I no longer use AMD chipsets, CPUs, or GPUs, due to their recently implemented joint manufacturing venture with a company controlled by the government of the United Arab Emirates. I believe this deal is a genuine threat to our nation's security and economic competitiveness.
*Laptops - Asus, Lenovo, and Toshiba make good laptops. Even with these brands my advice is to look at the more expensive models (try to compare prices with similar configurations of CPUs, RAM, etc.). It is difficult for me to recommend a good laptop, but I can tell you this: do NOT buy an HP DV-series or a Dell Inspiron laptop. They are flimsy. Dell Vostro laptops might be good; I liked their older ones. Don't buy a Sony either.
